How to watermark a PDF

1. Drop the PDF above. 2. Edit the text (it starts as CONFIDENTIAL). 3. Choose placement, strength, size and color. 4. Press “Add watermark” and download.

A stamp, not a reprint

GustKit draws the words on top of each page with pdf-lib. The page underneath is not flattened, so text you could select before stays selectable. Letters outside the Latin set are replaced, because the stamp uses a standard PDF font.

How to stamp a draft without hiding the words

1. Start with Light or Medium and Diagonal. 2. Shorten the text if it crashes into the margins. 3. Use First page only for a cover stamp, and every page for a draft that must show on each sheet. 4. Open the download and try to select a sentence underneath.

The stamp is transparent text, not a flattened picture. Strong is harder to see through. Red reads as a warning. Gray is quieter on contracts. This is not a lock: someone can still copy the text.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watermark only the first page?

Yes. Turn on “First page only” if the cover is the only page that needs the stamp.

Will this hide the document?

The stamp is semi-transparent and sits on top. Light is easy to read through. Strong is more visible. The words underneath are still in the file.

Is the PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is drawn in this tab. You can disconnect after the page has loaded.

Can I use my company logo?

Not on the PDF page. This stamp is text. For a logo on a photo, use Watermark image, then JPG to PDF if you still need a document.

Why did an accent turn into a question mark?

Only Latin-1 letters fit the standard PDF font. Other scripts are replaced. Portuguese and Spanish accents are kept.
