How to make a photo grayscale
1. Drop one or more JPG, PNG or WebP files. 2. Leave the format on “Same as original”, or pick PNG when you need a clear background. 3. Press “Make grayscale” and download each file, or a ZIP if there are several.
GustKit uses the brightness of each pixel (a standard mix of red, green and blue). The picture does not get cropped, rotated or sharpened. A color logo becomes gray shapes of the same size.
When gray is the right file
Use it for a print that must be black and white, a portrait you want quieter, or a scan of a form where color only adds noise. It is not a contrast tool and it does not remove a background. Invert colors is the page that flips every color to its opposite.
What stays and what drops
Width and height stay the same. PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG paints clear pixels white, because JPG has no transparency. EXIF location is left out, the same way the other image tools save a new file. HEIC should be converted to JPG first.
How to check the black and white file
1. Open the download next to the original. 2. Confirm the width and height did not change. 3. If a logo lost its clear background, run again and save PNG.
Grayscale follows brightness. A red logo and a green logo of the same brightness become the same gray. Invert colors is a different page: it flips hues instead of removing them.
