  1. Choose file

Your file never leaves your device. Processed locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Location and camera metadata (EXIF) are removed from the result.

This page only accepts PNG and saves WEBP.

How to convert PNG to WebP

1. Drop one or more PNG files. Other types are refused on this page. 2. Leave quality at 80% for photos and screenshots, or pick a smaller preset when the page must load faster. 3. Press “Convert images” and download each WebP, or a ZIP if there are several.

WebP is smaller than PNG for most photos and is accepted by current browsers. Use it for a site, a chat app that allows WebP, or an archive you will open on a modern phone.

Transparency stays

Unlike JPG, WebP can keep a clear background. A logo with empty pixels stays empty. If a form still rejects WebP, convert that file to JPG or keep PNG on the matching page.

Same engine as Convert image

There is no second converter. This URL only fixes the pair PNG to WebP so the options stay short. Pixels are drawn on the browser canvas. EXIF location is not copied. For other pairs, open Convert image.

Frequently asked questions

Will a transparent logo stay transparent?

Yes. WebP can store the clear pixels. JPG cannot, so do not use PNG to JPG if the background must stay clear.

Why is WebP sometimes larger than the PNG?

A flat screenshot or a simple diagram is already small as PNG. WebP helps most on photos. Compare the size the button reports.

Can I convert several PNGs?

Yes. Drop a batch up to the limit on the page and download a ZIP.

Is the PNG uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in this tab.
