Crop a video by dragging a frame

Drag the frame on the picture, or lock it to square, 16:9 or 9:16. GustKit cuts that share of the frame with FFmpeg and downloads an MP4. Nothing is uploaded.

Your file never leaves your device. Processed locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Re-encoding runs on your device's CPU in a single thread: expect roughly real time or slower (a 1-minute clip can take a minute or more).

How to crop a video

1. Drop the video and wait for the frame. 2. Drag the box, or drag a corner. Pick Square or 9:16 if the shape must stay fixed. 3. Press “Crop video” and download the MP4.

The frame is a share of the picture, the same idea as Crop image. Arrow keys nudge it. Shift moves it further.

The picture is re-encoded

FFmpeg cuts the pixels you kept and writes a new MP4. Sound is kept when the file has it. This does not change the length: use Trim video for that, and Resize video when you only want a smaller frame without cutting the edges.

Phone clips and margins

Use this to drop black bars or to make a 16:9 clip into a square for a post. The cut uses even pixel sizes so the file plays. A password is not involved. The video stays in this tab.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop a different moment than the first frame?

The frame is the picture size, not a time range. Scrub is not required: the crop is the same for the whole clip.

Will a square frame make a square video?

Yes. Square, 4:3, 16:9 and 9:16 lock the shape. Free lets you drag any rectangle.

Does cropping remove the soundtrack?

No. The soundtrack is kept when there is one.

Is the video uploaded?

No. The preview and the cut happen in this browser.
