How to add silence to audio
1. Drop one audio file you already have. Video and pictures are refused here. 2. Pick a length for the start, the end, or both. None on one side leaves that side as it is. 3. Press “Add silence” and play the download from the start.
One second at the start makes a 6 second voice note about 7 seconds. Two seconds at the end makes that same note about 8 seconds. Both together add the two lengths. GustKit re-encodes the file in this tab and keeps the channel count. Keep the original until the quiet parts land where you need them.
Silence is empty time, fade is a slope
Fade audio raises the start from quiet and lowers the end back to quiet. The words are still there, only softer. This page inserts true silence and makes the file longer. Trim audio is how you cut a long recording under the limit before you add the quiet. Change volume multiplies loudness and does not add time.
The audio stays in this tab
The first visit downloads FFmpeg. Later visits reuse the browser cache. Files longer than the limit on the page are refused, because the whole file is re-encoded here. GustKit does not fetch audio from a link.
How to hear the quiet before you replace the original
1. Play the download from the first second. If you added silence at the start, that second should be quiet. 2. Jump near the end and check the tail you asked for. 3. Keep the original until a spoken word still starts when you expect.
Fade audio softens the edges and does not add empty time. Trim audio is how you shorten a long file before this page. The file type does not change. Nothing is uploaded.
