How to make a stereo file mono
1. Drop one audio file. Video and pictures are refused here. 2. Press “Convert to mono” and play the download next to the original. 3. Keep the original until the new file sounds right on a single speaker.
GustKit uses FFmpeg to mix the two channels into one and writes the same kind of file: WAV stays WAV, MP3 stays MP3, M4A stays M4A. A file that is already mono comes back as mono. The length does not change. This is not Change volume, and it does not remove noise.
One channel, not a new format
Audio converter is the page that changes WAV, MP3, M4A or OGG into another format, and it also accepts a video soundtrack. This page only changes the channel count. Use it when a phone voice memo or a field recording should sit in one speaker, or when an editor asked for a mono stem.
The audio stays in this tab
The first visit downloads FFmpeg. Later visits reuse the browser cache. Files longer than the limit on the page are refused, because the whole file is re-encoded here. GustKit does not fetch audio from a link.
How to hear the mono file before you replace the original
1. Play the download on the same device volume as the original. 2. A sound that lived only on the left or the right should now sit in the middle. 3. Keep the original until a single speaker sounds right.
The file type does not change. Audio converter is the page that switches WAV, MP3, M4A or OGG. This page only mixes the channels. Nothing is uploaded.
