How to convert a GIF to WebP
1. Drop a GIF you already have. A video or an audio file is refused here. 2. Press “Convert to WebP” and download.
GustKit asks FFmpeg for an animated WebP with libwebp. If that file has an animation chunk and at least two frames, the download keeps the name ending in anim.webp. If the browser cannot write that, the download is a still WebP of the first frame, the name ends in still.webp, and the result says so.
A GIF page, not a photo page
PNG to WebP and JPG to WebP save one still photo from the canvas. GIF to MP4 turns the animation into a video. This page starts from a GIF and aims at WebP. Clips stay within the limit shown next to the button.
The GIF stays in this tab
FFmpeg runs in this browser on one CPU thread. GustKit does not fetch a GIF from a link. Leave the tab open until the download appears. Close it and the file is gone.
How to check the WebP
1. Open the download. 2. If the name ends in anim.webp, the frames should still move. 3. If the name ends in still.webp, only the first frame was saved and the result on this page says so.
PNG to WebP saves one photo. This page starts from a short GIF. Animated WebP is used when this browser can write it. Nothing is uploaded.
